Morning Walk, Abstract Painting

Sunlight's first bright sparkle upon one's eyes, fracturing through leaves and prismatically unfurling down upon us the emanations of some cosmic source of bounty, replenishing us for the day ahead, well fed with this mysterious and abundant light...

A painting about sunlight in the morning

"...bringing me back to Fall..."

This painting was my first alla prima with spray paint, dancing with the emotions I experienced one particular Southwest morning walking out and feeling the Southwest sun upon my skin. This painting still brings me back to that Fall morning, with light fracturing through the prismatic Bosque leaves, enlivening the start to my day.

What I used to paint Morning Walk

Rustolem spraypaint and pressed-and dried leaves from the Sumac tree, were the primary mediums used on Morning Walk. Once I dried the leaves into the desired shapes I wanted, and trimmed or cut off whatever parts of the stems would interfer with the composition I wanted, I arranged them into patterns that reminded me the most of the Southwest sunlight, and how you often experience it cutting through the leaves with these gorgeous rainbows.
